Blue Guardian Review (2026): Rules, Payouts & Honest Verdict
Blue Guardian Review: Rules, Payouts & Honest Verdict
A no-hype breakdown of Blue Guardian’s funded programs: the offers, the rules that actually breach traders, the payout process, and who it really suits.
Most traders read « 4% daily / 8% max / 90% split » and think they understand the deal, then they get breached on a detail they never read: the 5pm EST reset, the news window, trailing drawdown. This review gives you the rules in plain English, a clear offers table, and the concrete traps so you can decide with your eyes open.
In this review
1. Blue Guardian in 60 seconds
Blue Guardian sells funded trading accounts in a simulated environment with strict rules: profit targets, a daily drawdown limit and a total drawdown limit. Clear those rules without breaching and you keep a share of the simulated profit.
What it sells
Evaluation and instant-funding programs on demo/virtual capital, with profit targets and drawdown rules.
Where traders get caught
The 5pm EST daily reset, equity-based (floating) drawdown, trailing vs static, and the minimum holding time.
Quick verdict
Solid if you’re disciplined and trade clean. Trade on feeling, over-leverage, or skip the rulebook and you’ll get knocked out.
2. The Blue Guardian offers compared
Exact percentages vary by program and add-ons. This table gives you the logic and the key points, always confirm the summary at checkout before paying.
| Program | Access | Target | Daily DD | Max DD | Drawdown | Split |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Instant Funding | Direct funded | None | ~3% | ~6% | Trailing | ~80% |
| Instant Funding Starter | Direct (small) | None | ~3% | ~5% | Trailing | ~50% |
| 1-Step | Eval → Funded | ~10% | ~4% | ~6% | Trailing | up to 90%* |
| 2-Step | 2 phases | ~8% then 4% | ~4% | ~8% | Static | up to 90%* |
| 2-Step Pro | 2 phases | ~8% then 5% | ~4% | ~8% | Static | up to 90%* |
| 3-Step | 3 phases | ~6% / 6% / 6% | ~4% | ~8% | Static | up to 90%* |
* Standard split with add-ons that can raise it; exact terms depend on checkout.
3. The rules that actually breach traders
The daily drawdown reset (5pm EST)
The daily limit does not reset the way most people assume. At 5pm EST the day’s limit is recalculated from the higher of balance or equity. If you hold a position in profit through 5pm EST, the next day’s daily can be measured from a higher equity, so a small retrace can shrink your real margin fast.
Floating P&L counts
Drawdown limits are based on equity, which includes open (floating) profit and loss. Letting trades run with no stop is playing with a guillotine. Pragmatic fix: set a personal daily loss cap (say 1%) and cut well before the official limit.
Trailing vs static : not a detail
Trailing drawdown rises as you profit and can stop you out on a retracement. Static is a fixed threshold based on the initial balance : usually easier to manage mentally. Check which one your program uses.
Minimum holding time
Blue Guardian states a minimum holding time (e.g. ~2 minutes). Ultra-short tick scalping is risky here.
4. News trading: allowed or not?
- On the evaluation: news trading is generally announced as allowed, but mind the drawdown.
- On funded accounts: a « red folder » rule often restricts opening/closing in a window around high-impact events.
If you’re not 100% sure of the news rule on your specific account, keep it simple: be flat before the news. Zero debate, zero silly violation.
5. Payouts: timing and process
Eligibility
Often from day 14 after your first funded trade (or day 7 with an add-on). Account must be above initial, with no violations.
How you’re paid
Requested via dashboard, processed in ~1–2 business days through RiseWorks (bank + crypto), typically $100 minimum.
The simple rule
Before payout day, don’t play hero. Preserve the account and leave nothing open when you request.
Pass the rules with the right tools
Tight drawdown means precise sizing and clean structure. The Position Size Calculator PRO sets your exact lot from your risk %, and the MSOB Dashboard maps order blocks, FVG and structure automatically : both built for MT5.
Position Size PRO → MSOB Dashboard →6. Who Blue Guardian is for (and who it isn’t)
A good fit if you
Have a repeatable, already-profitable process, respect a personal daily loss cap, understand trailing vs static, and avoid silly violations.
A bad fit if you
Size up after a loss to « win it back », trade news with no plan, hold through the 5pm EST reset blindly, or keep no trading journal.
A prop firm does not give you an edge : it amplifies your process. If your process is poor, it amplifies your mistakes.
7. Which strategy fits a Blue Guardian challenge
Blue Guardian doesn’t tell you how to trade. Some approaches simply fit a tight-drawdown challenge better:
ICT / Smart Money Concepts
The most popular prop-firm approach in 2026: identify order blocks, fair value gaps and breaks of structure for precise entries with tight stops : ideal for respecting drawdown. The MSOB Dashboard detects these automatically.
Session breakout (London / New York)
Mark the Asian range, trade the London breakout, stop on the other side, target 1.5–2x the range. Mechanical, which limits emotional decisions in a challenge.
Gold (XAUUSD) mean reversion
Gold’s volatility helps hit targets, but violent moves cut both ways. Backtest at least 6 months before using it in a challenge.
Golden rule: whatever you pick, never change it mid-challenge. Drawdowns are normal; switching methods halfway is the most common fatal error.
8. Pre-purchase checklist
- Pick your model: instant funding or evaluation (1/2/3-step).
- Confirm: daily DD, max DD, trailing or static, news rule, payout cadence.
- If you use an EA: check trailing behaviour, holding time and floating-P&L handling.
- From day one, set a personal stop (e.g. -1%) even if the rule allows more.
- Avoid large trades near the 5pm EST reset, and be flat before major news.
9. Blue Guardian FAQ
Is Blue Guardian legit?
Blue Guardian is an established prop firm running funded programs in a simulated environment. As with any prop firm, the key is reading the rules carefully, most « scam » complaints trace back to breaches on rules the trader didn’t read (5pm EST reset, trailing, news window).
Are EAs and trade copiers allowed?
Generally yes, but avoid anything resembling group trading or signal abuse, and respect the rules (news, holding time, drawdown).
Can I hold positions overnight or over the weekend?
Often allowed, but equity-based drawdown never sleeps : a gap can breach you. Manage risk accordingly.
What’s the biggest trap?
Holding a position through the 5pm EST reset without understanding the daily recalculation, combined with trading too big.
Which account size should a beginner choose?
For a first challenge, a $25k or $50k account keeps the entry cost and pressure lower while you validate your process. Scale up once you’ve mastered the rules.
Which assets should I trade?
Major forex pairs (EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY) and gold (XAUUSD) are the most popular. Focus on 2–3 instruments you know well rather than spreading thin.
